I have worked for McDonalds since 1997. I was hired as an Assistant Manager (LDM) with no McDonalds experience. I moved my family to Worthington, MN to start this new and exciting career. I was the LDM under Steve Miller for 3 years. An opportunity arose when a GM position opened up in the town of Spencer, IA in 2000. I accepted the position and again moved my family to another state.
Working as the GM in Spencer was a challenging experience. Within 2 years I turned around not only the culture of the store, but the view that the community had on this McDonalds. Some of the same employees I hired in 2000 and 2001 are still with me today! We rebuilt the Spencer location in 2001, it was exciting being part of a new restaurant built from the ground up. I have been involved in the building of 2 more locations since then.
In 2005, as I built an excellent team under me, I was promoted to the Area Supervisor for 3 locations. I enjoy visiting the different locations and getting to know so many new people and helping them learn and grow. I am currently supervising 4 Iowa locations and love my job. Not only do we have awesome customers, we have awesome crew people in each store. I love being a part of their development and seeing how this job changes lives. I oversee the development of our GMs and LDMs. We focus on our people first, then our operations, and finally our profit. It's such a grand experience to watch others grow under you and become better leaders. I still have former crew people stop me and tell me that I was their first boss and that they now are successful in their own careers. We have so many reasons to be thankful for McDonalds.
I have been a Spencer resident for 20 years and love this town. I have been married for 23 years to my husband, Paul, and we have one adult son, Gage. In our spare time, we love to travel and do so often. I have 5 awesome nephews I adore and try to spend as much time with them as I can. Being a part of McDonalds has given us a great life (inside and outside) and I love working for Hart2Hart!
